Background and affiliations
I have over 25 years experience as an editor and proofreader, with a focus on business (including
the business aspects of health care), education, social sciences, women's studies, and technical
topics. I started out in the Manuscript Editing Department of the University of Chicago Press, and have
freelanced for many publishers, associations, and other businesses. I also have printing and prepress
production experience.
My education (ever continuing) includes a BA and MA in English from Northwestern University;
business, desktop publishing, computer courses, and a website management certificate from Oakton
Community College (Des Plaines, Illinois); and printing courses at the Printing Institute of Illinois.
I am a member of Chicago Women in Publishing, Editorial Freelancers Association, and Over 40 Females, and have served as Chair and Board Advisor for the Northwestern U. alumni annual seminar day, A Day with Northwestern.
When not at my computer, I can be found taking long walks outdoors or channeling my inner Dauntless and perfecting my trapeze skills.
